Jeep Cherokee Makes Long-Awaited Return
The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee is finally here and you can find it at Freedom Jeep in Lexington. Since bowing out to make way for the Jeep Liberty in 2002, the Cherokee’s return has been highly-anticipated. The new Cherokee steps out of the box design of it’s predecessor with a new, distinctive look that features sweeping lines and an aerodynamic, yet rugged silhouette. The traditional slatted grille conforms to the hood and the triple stack lamp cluster’s four running lights and swooping, slit-like turn signals complete the unique styling.
The modern aesthetic continues on into the interior. A variety of soft-touch surfaces can be found throughout the Cherokee. Additionally, standard technology on select trim levels includes 5.0- or 8.4-inch touchscreen for climate, communication and information control. Conveniences like the split-folding and sliding second-row seat as well as an available fold-flat passenger seat with under-cushion storage compartment help maximize the Cherokee’s versatility.
As far as powertrains go, the 2014 Cherokee offers a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 184-hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. In addition, the optional, all-new 3.2-liter V6, good for 271-hp and 239 lb-ft, has a 4,500 lb towing capacity. Both engines come paired to an nine-speed automatic transmission and are anticipated to achieve 31-mpg highway and 29 mpg highway respectively.* Plus, with the Cherokee’s standard front-wheel-drive or available four-wheel drive choices – Active Drive I, II and Lock – you can equip your Cherokee best suit your environment and intentions.
